British Singles Currently Rocking My World
Sometimes I get the feeling that my favorite British radio station (XFM 104.9) is a little too much like KISS 108 in Boston -- they play a lot of the same songs over and over again, the same commercials over and over again, and their DJs, while endearing and British, have annoying patter. Plus, I get really excited when there are advertisements for "Pizza for a Fiver!" and then I realize that the deal does not apply to Pizza Huts that are stateside.
HOWEVER, there have been some pretty kickass singles in heavy rotation over there, and I thought I would share, in case anyone is feeling like spending $5 on iTunes:
Keane "Is It Any Wonder?"
(This is also Justin's new favorite song...shhh don't tell him I said anything! He is usually much more hardcore with his music tastes.)
Razorlight "In the Morning"
Ray LaMontagne "Trouble"
(This song was actually doing some business on our side of the pond in the Fall of 2005, but sometimes the persistent hippie-granola of 92.5 gets to me, so I didn't hear it that much. It's a great song, though.)
The Zutons "Valerie"
(This song is admittedly stupid, but there is this cheesy sort of strut to the guitars that got under my skin.)
The Feeling "Fill My World"
(Again, the song itself is kind of cheesy, but it's so kicky and cute with its little sing-song chorus! I love it.)
