Oasis and The Streets
Oasis is putting out a greatest hits album called Stop the Clocks.
The twist is that the band themselves are picking out the tracks that will appear on the album. While I love those boys more than is proper or reasonable, I feel like they should not be allowed to make major decisions by themselves anymore, since this is the last thing they came up with when left to their own devices. The fact that Noel & co. feel that “The Importance of Being Idle” is a good enough song to sit on a CD with actually good songs like “Supersonic” and “Half the World Away” just further backs up my point.
Those boys already have enough money, so I don’t feel bad encouraging people to forget about Stop the Clocks and just buy The Masterplan already. That album is Oasis at its finest.
In other news, Mike Skinner is working on some interesting side projects:
To celebrate its forthcoming twenty-fifth anniversary, MTV has joined forces with chart topping artist Mike Skinner, renowned director Alastair Siddons and 25 young people from across the UK to create an epic, record breaking music video.
The video will run for a full 20 minutes and looks set to smash the current Guinness World Record for the longest ever music video. The record is currently held by Michael Jackson for ‘Thriller’, which runs at 18 minutes in length and was created in 1983. The very first play of this groundbreaking video will be on MTV at 8.30 pm on August 1st and will star MTV viewers.
Mike Skinner says: 'This project has been really exciting for me and I am delighted to be celebrating MTV's 25th birthday in this way. Alastair and I have been blown away by the creativity and imaginations of the young people involved, and we have read hundreds of treatments and watched hours of videos in order to find the most interesting and intriguing content for this epic work.’
