Surrounded
For those that don't know, the lovely Ms. Bjork has recently released her latest 7-CD box set, Surrounded, which contains each of her studio albums remastered, plus, on the flipside (hurrah for DualDisc), each of the albums in 5.1 surround sound stereo along with her music videos. Though i am sure the box is wonderful and the artwork looks amazing, doesn't this release seem kind of, well...pointless? Let's think for a moment:
a) Why now? Bjork certainly shows no sign of stopping in the near future, so why a career-spanning retrospective now when she'll likely just make another after she retires (or, er, dies)?
b) Aside from maybe the 5.1 surround sound editions of the albums, what makes this box worth dropping $135 for? Chances are that if you're big enough a Bjork fan to spend that kind of money on a box set, you've already spent a good amount of money on all of her albums and videos as it is.
Bjork, we love you, but come on, this is the third box set you've put out in less than three years. Please, get with it. In other news, however, according to Bjork's newsletter (which miraculously found my e-mail address though I have no recollection of ever having signed up for it, though that is a different story entirely), Bjork is at work on a new album, so those looking for new material may be in luck.
