Continuing on the "Shows of Interest" theme...

For those who have not yet had the chance to experience the unadultered amazingness that is Of Montreal's live show, the band will be coming to the Avalon on March 11. Of Montreal puts on easily the best show I've ever seen, which may not be saying much coming from me, but I doubt you'll be able to find any other band that can get away with coming on stage in wedding gowns and asks the audience to marry them, bursting into the NBA opening theme in the middle of a song, or wearing enough glitter and dayglo garb to make The Scissor Sisters jealous. I've said it before, but the band's new album (Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer?, still not released until next year) is amazing, and as if that weren't enough, frontman Kevin Barnes mentioned in a recent interview that he's been saving up to do something elaborate for this tour, so needless to say, it's going to be a great show.

In other news, last night I decided to be really terrible and spent $35 that was supposed to be Christmas shopping money on the new Tom Waits set, but believe me, it was well worth it. And continuing on the subject of Tom Waits, I must show you the interview I read with Waits on Pitchfork this morning; not only does the man admit to being a huge fan Missy Elliott and Chamillionaire, but apparently who but Scarlett Johansson plans to release a Tom Waits cover album next year - I'm just as confused as you are.

I'm psyched that Miss J. will be covering Waits' "I Showed My Butt on the Cover of Vanity Fair". Great tune, mesmerizing even.

Fun fact: it took me until just now to realize that was a joke/not some obscure Waits rarity I was too unhip to have heard of.
