I wish I could say we have been on vacation...

...preferably in some sandy, sunny warm place....but sadly, we have not.  We have just been quite busy and getting used to our new jobs (I am sure this comes as a shocker, but being the Presidents of AvoidPeril.com International Industries does not pay the bills) and schedules.

We do resolve to update much more frequently, though...starting now!

I haven't been paying much attention to music lately, as is perhaps further evidenced by my most recent purchase on iTunes (including a song so embarassing that I can't even bring myself to mention it):

1. "Fortress Around Your Heart" - Sting
2. "Seether" - Veruca Salt
3. "Drip Drop Teardrop" - The Cardigans
4. A song that I will not name but a clue to its identity is that it was prominently featured in several teasers for and one episode of Smallville. Shut up.

I will say that the Cardigans' new album seems to be pretty good.  I've developed a new appreciation for Nina Persson's voice, which sounds like cold smooth sandpaper, if that makes any sense at all.

I learned today that Sting used to be an English teacher (in England, no less), which sheds serious light on the incredible bombast of some of his lyrics...particularly in my new favorite song (of today), a sampling of whose lyrics include:

"Under the ruins of a walled city / the siege guns are being pounded through the night / It took a day to build this city / As we walked through its streets in the afternoon / As I returned across the fields I'd known / I recognized the walls that I'd once made / Had to stop in my tracks for fear of walking on the mines I'd laid / AND IF I BUILT THIS FORTRESS AROUND YOUR HEART"

The song is clearly awesome, but what I love about it is the fact that the chorus of the song sounds like it could be a bona fide Steve Perry special, and we all know that Journey never wrote about mines, wars, or anything but small town girls living in lonely worlds.

Anyway.  This is my good faith entry that I will be better about updating in the future.

And if you want to take shots at my guiltiest guilty song of the day, feel free...I'll let you know if you're right.  :)
