« Valentine's Day Sucks, but Here's a Shmoopy Mix All About Love Anyway | Main | Why Don't You Love Me?....aka Valentine's Day Mix #2 »

Who says indie kids can't celebrate Valentine's Day?

Valentine's Day is a holiday that conjures up images of heart-shaped chocolate boxes, bouquets of red roses, and little cupids ominously floating around people's heads, not those of twenty-somethings in Urban Outfitters tweed blazers discussing the work of Salinger in TeaLuxe. But that's not to say that hopeless romantics and unabashed hipsters can't all enjoy the same songs of love and heartbreak, and here's a mix to prove it:

1. Air - Venus
2. Animal Collective - The Purple Bottle
3. The Magnetic Fields - All My Little Words
4. The Cardigans - Sick & Tired
5. Beat Happening - Noise
6. Peter Bjorn & John - Young Folks
7. Yo La Tengo - Autumn Sweater
8. Nina Simone - I Want a Little Sugar in my Bowl
9. The Cure - Close to Me
10. Talking Heads - This Must be the Place (Naive Melody)
11. Graham Coxon - Just Be Mine
12. The Velvet Underground - Who Loves the Sun
13. Cat Power - Half of You
14. Stars - What I'm Trying to Say
15. Wilco - I Am Trying to Break Your Heart
16. Beach House - Saltwater

Happy V-Day, everyone, and, for those of you still in school, happy snow day, too!
