Listening to…

“Boyz,” the new single from M.I.A.  Girl’s got a seriously captivating, sassily sensuous voice, and the track has incredible deep, exotic beats.

Virgin: the Untouched History by Hanne Blank.  Not the best breakfast reading (I had to switch books this morning, as it turned out that reading about the hymen is not something I am capable of doing while eating eggs), but fascinating during the other 23.5 hours in the day.  It’s common knowledge that historically, women’s sexuality has pretty much always determined their worth, but there is some fascinating detail in the research here, and it gives the book a lot more intellectual heft.
