Zsammy is some guy named Sam in Pittsburgh. He's working on an album called Be Let Down, and you can download the songs he's finished so far from his website, www.zsammy.com.  I hear a lot of different things in his music -- sometimes he heaps on shimmery stacks of shoegazer guitars, he's got a little bit of a Britpop vibe like all those bands that wanted to be Radiohead, his slower and more acoustic-oriented material reminds me a bit of Elliott Smith. He stood out for me for two reasons: strong vocals, and really well-constructed songs with lots of textural variation and subtle dynamics. Not to mention hooks. "Your Chest Is Not Moving" is the track that drew me in first, but Zsammy's work is of consistently high quality.
